When the concept of Baby Diaper Cakes appeared, we weren't sure if this baby gift idea was really such a good idea. As it turns out, the combination of diapers, a baby item that all parents truly need, plus the softest and cutest plush animals or infant booties have become a popular baby present, not to mention a center piece for baby showers.

A diaper cake is a number of diapers that are rolled up or folded to make a gift tower, typically 1, 2 or 3-tiers tall. The bottom tier has enough diapers tied together to form a base. The diapers are tied together with either an elastic or tape which is then covered with an attractive ribbon or baby items such as a bath towel, onesie or bib.

We have two different styles of diaper cakes. One style is the arrangement of diapers that are held together with the ribbon and decorated with the baby essentials. The diapers are visible.

The other style is the diaper cake that, instead of a decorative ribbon, uses baby clothes to cover up the diapers and the tape that holds the diapers together. Baby clothes such as the onesies, bibs, towels, etc. are great infant clothes that are wide enough and folded in such a way that the diapers are hidden. Think of "ganache" on a very delicious cake.
